According to legend, in 2737 BC, the Chinese emperor Shen Nung was sitting beneath a tree while his servant boiled drinking water, when some leaves from the tree blew into the water. Whilst the custom of drinking tea dates back to the third millennium BC in China and was popularized in England during the 1660s by King Charles II and his wife the Portuguese Infanta Catherine de Braganza, it was not until the mid-19th century that the concept of ‘afternoon tea’ first appeared. Tea production is one of the main sources of foreign exchange for Sri Lanka and accounts for Employments directly or indirectly, over 1 million people, and in 1995 directly employed 215,338 on tea plantations and estates. Sri Lanka is the world’s fourth-largest producer of Tea. Just drinking a few cups of tea and buying a couple of tea items on your visit to Sri Lanka, is really not the best way to get to know about this aspect of Ceylon. What you truly have to do to understand Sri Lankan Tea is to walk those estate paths and experience it for yourself.

Morning we start the tour from Haputale, we meet by the Railway station in Haputale and transfer to the starting point by tuk tuk or mini van And we start the forest walk Forests are known to have great therapeutic benefits for our body, mind and spirit. Scientific studies have shown that natural environments can have remarkable benefits for human health. Natural environments are more likely to promote positive emotions; walking in nature has been associated with heightened physical and mental energy. Walking through various types of forests, not experienced by everyday tourists, we walk on a road for about a half hour and come to a panoramic view point in the tea plantation and walk about a 30 minute in the tea plantation and the Remote tea estate villages where the tea plantation workers live you will meet the family’s and the children’s, if you happen to have any sweets you can shire with them and they are happy to see a visitor pass by them because always they see the same Faces of the people who live there, and we see the lady’s picking tea in the plantation and we can also join them for 10 or 15 minutes to pick the tea and experience the tea picking that we drink tea all our life,
than go in to the forest and Pine Forest & Natural Forest also in the Eucalyptus Forest, Rain Forest, walk through the Tea Plantations of this Beautiful hill country and see Sri Lanka at its best. And one of the most beautiful Views of north and south can be seen in this walk. Also, we have the chance to walk in the railway line for an about half an hour also to go true a tunnel on the railway line, in this trekking we will have a picnic stop with a panoramic view and enjoy our picnic,

The forest walk is Considered one of the most beautiful treks in the country by the tourist who did the trek on the trek you will see some wildlife like toque macaques, purple faced langurs (Black Bear Monkey), wild boars, stripe necked mongooses, Sri Lankan spotted chevrotain, and grizzled giant squirrels. and birds like Yellow eared bulbul, crested serpent eagle, Sri Lanka junglefowl, Sri Lanka white-eye also you will see lizards like ,Rhino horn lizard, Black-lipped Lizard

The 5-to 6 hour trek you will enjoy every foot of it once we finish the trekking take the train from Ohiya to Ella-Haputale or Bandarawela and the train journey is about an Hour and Half and also, we can do other way around

From Haputale

Ella Rock

Morning from the Home stay we transfer you to the starting point to the trekking and we will transfer your luggage’s to Ella the hotel you stay,

It is a great base for tourists who want to explore the surrounding hills and enjoy the breathtaking views of Badulla’s green valleys. The weather is usually quite humid, with moderate air temperature, sunny mornings, and often rain showers in the afternoon.

Visiting Ella is not complete without climbing the Most Famous Ella Rock The most rewarding, and most taxing, hike around Ella is the ascent of the majestic Ella Rock,

Ella Rock is a famous cliff, located high above Ella’s village, roughly a two hours strenuous trek from the center of town. The rock offers stunning views across the hill country, and the plains below. The trek to Ella Rock is about 8 km long Trekking to Ella Rock and back is around 4 hours from start to finish

The total climb up Ella Rock is one thousand meters, or 3300ft, giving the summit a total height of 2000 meters. It can be quite a tricky walk in parts, particularly approaching the top which has some steep stretches

Little Adam’s Peak
If you know Sri Lanka you’ll know all about Adam’s Peak but you may not have heard of Little Adam’s Peak (Mini Adam’s Peak or Small Adam’s Peak)
Little Adam’s Peak is just one of it. The eye catching, jaw dropping and conspicuous peak is the one not to miss, situated in Ella, Sri Lanka, it has been attracting tourists for a long time now. The reason for its popularity is the amazing view that never fails to attract and impress the visitors.

Nine Arches Bridge
Walk over the famous Nine Arches Bridge with its rampant history. The hike to the Demodara Railway Station
This mountain has an elevation of 1141 m above sea level, and gains its name from its similarity of style to the famous Adam’s Peak, the fifth tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. The summit of the mountain has great panoramic views, especially in the morning When You will be hiking. After spending sometime at the top, you will be returning to the base. The entire climb up and down will take two hours
After you will hike cross country for 40 minutes through some woods to reach the Nine Arches Bridge. This incredible historical viaduct built Entirely from stone, bricks and cement (with no steel) was created in the British era of Sri Lanka. It spans a space of over 300 feet and has a height of approximately 100 feet. You will be able walk along the railroad passing over the bridge, and listen to your hiking guide explain the history and stories about the Nine Arches. You Can Also get some excellent photographs and create some memories.
Continuing on you will hike another 40 minutes along the railroad till you reach the Demodara Railway Station. This station has a unique architectural design, hailing from the British Colonial Era. The railway line loops back around to enter a tunnel running below the railway station. This coil loop allows the trains to go through the same location twice. You will be finishing your hike at this interesting location, the Demodara Railway Station, from the railway station take the transport back to Ella Or anywhere your next destination

The Kirigalpoththa Mountain hike gives you a chance to climb up Kirigalpoththa, the second tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, starting from Horton Plains National Park. Feel the exhilaration of hiking up the mountain by a single overgrown trail with Several Difficult hiking and mountaineering sections. Pass through scenic grass plains, cloud forests, bogs and steep rocky surfaces. Discover the exceedingly beautiful nature and varied wildlife in Horton Plains and Kirigalpoththa. Enjoy lunch surrounded by the mountains. Take photographs of the best views.
A 7km hike That is the tour start from Ell, Hapu tale or Bandara Wela
At 5:30 am. About one and half hour driving to the gate a starting point, you’ll be passing through Horton Plains National Park, a protected area Which is one of the most famous tourist destination of Sri Lanka. The park’s entrance fee is included in your hiking package. The Horton Plains National Park has a variety of mammals such as Sambar, chevrotain, wild boar, fishing cat, purple-faced langurs and many others. As one of the Important Bird Areas of Sri Lanka It also has a large numbers of bird species, including some rare and endemic. If you are quiet enough you might get to see some of them. You will also pass through a section of the park with many springs, which mark the birth of some of the Largest rivers of the country.
After sometime on the trail you will find yourself climbing up Kirigalpoththa. Standing at 2388m tall, it is the second tallest mountain in the countryside. It is a translation of the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, Which the public are allowed to climb. The entire trek is approximately 7km long and takes about five to six hours to hike. The terrain and weather can be treacherous and cause Difficulties, you will have to pass through bogs, swamps and high undergrowth, and creditors over rivers or cross slippery rock surfaces. Do not stray from the trail that your hiking guide leads you on.
You can have breaks anywhere you like, you will be Reaching the summit by Noon to enjoy the panoramic views spread out like a feast for your eyes. After a photograph session, you will be having a picnic lunch
Once lunch is completed, you will be returning using the same trail That you used EARLIER. Up to the gate from the gate you will take the transport to the next destination

Hike up Single Tree Hill & Highest village trek, a viewpoint above Nuwara Eliya, and climb the winding path through tea plantations. at the top, admire the bird’s-eye views over Nuwara Eliya, Lake Gregory, and Sri Lanka’s tea country and mountains. Climb a path through emerald tea plantations to the summit the Low-difficulty hike What You Can Expect Scenic views of the Hike. Wear comfortable shoes and bring clothes suitable for warm, windy, or rainy conditions. Your destination is the summit of Single Tree Hill, sometimes called One Tree Hill, one of Sri Lanka’s highest peaks at 6,889 feet (2,100 meters). However, since it rises 820 feet (250 meters) above Nuwara, it only counts as a hill, and is relatively easy to climb. Walk up through the lush tea plantations, Single Tree Mountain unravels the spectacular views of the entire Nuwara Eliya Town including other mountains such as Adams peak, Piduruthalagala and Haggala mountains. and walk in a man made forest to the highest village in Sri Lanka and you will walk in the tea plantation villages and vegetable grows, Nuwara Eliya is considered to be the most important locations for tea production in Sri Lanka and this part of Sri Lanka’s hill country is just covered in tea. Everywhere. It was incredible to see the greenery that lines the mountains and the women that work 8 hour days hand picking the tea leaves for production. and aon the trekking you can also join the ladies to pick some tea that you drank all your life. on the trek you will meet the locals only and not see many tourists and we walk in the railway line for some time and also we will see some small waterfalls on the hike, we will be finishing the tour in Nanuoya Railway station and take the tuk tuk back to Nuwara Liya Center

On arrival, you will be served a warm Tea with a smile. The cook, caretaker and your trekking guide will ensure that your stay here will be pleasant one by going that extra mile. Dinner with Sri Lankan rice and curry and also you can join the cook to prepare the meal.

After breakfast walk to Babara Kanda falls the highest fall in Sri Lanka through a path in the mountain with panoramic view in the tea plantation and tea plantation villages and we will be passing through an area called “Devil’s staircase” a very narrow with three hair pin bends and at the end of this the tea estate the scenery come more fascinating will go At this point we will descend to a waterfall called “Lanka Falls” in the forest where you would be able to swim and have a cold bath in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall. And we will have a picnic meal lunch and have a rest and walk to the highest water fall Bambarakanda. The walk is about 4 hours to get to the waterfall. . After early breakfast, we track an hour to whir we meet our transport to Horton’s plane the drive is about 30 minutes, and we track in the park about 3 hours and back to the entrance and take back the transport about 15 minutes and track to the lodge in a forest and tea plantation with panoramic view
Horton Plains National Park is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by Montana grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 metres (6,900–7,500 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. This region was designated a national park in 1988. It is also a popular tourist destination.

The Horton Plains are the headwaters of three major Sri Lankan rivers, the Mahaweli, Kelani, and Walawe. In Sinhala the plains are known as Maha Eliya Plains. Stone tools dating back to Balangoda culture have been found here. The plains’ vegetation is grasslands interspersed with montane forest, and includes many endemic woody plants. Large herds of Sri Lankan sambar deer feature as typical mammals, and the park is also an Important Bird Area with many species not only endemic to Sri Lanka but restricted to the Horton Plains. Forest dieback is one of the major threats to the park and some studies suggest that it is caused by a natural phenomenon. The sheer precipice of World’s End and Baker’s Falls are among the tourist attractions of the park.
Horton Plains is located on the southern plateau of the central highlands of Sri Lanka. The peaks of Kirigalpoththa (2,389 metres (7,838 ft)) and Thotupola Kanda (2,357 metres (7,733 ft)), the second and the third highest of Sri Lanka, are situated to the west and north respectively. The park’s elevation ranges from 2,100–2,300 metres (6,900–7,500 ft). The rocks found in the park belong to the Archaean age and belong to the high series of the Precambrian era and are made up of Khondalites, Charnockites and granitic gneisses. The soil type is of the red-yellow podsolic group and the surface layer is covered with decayed organic matter

All hikes start at 8:30am. Enjoy lunch on the trail. You will be spending approximately 7 hours of solid hiking over rough terrain in the hills. Bambarakanda Waterfalls is the tallest in Sri Lanka, falling down a height of 263m.

The trail will pass by abandoned estates, beautiful rolling hills covered in fields of green tea, bubbling streams you will also come across some awe-striking views as you hike along the broken roads, and barely visible trails. You will pass by a village where tea plantation workers live also you can visit the schools of the village in the hike

Then you will be passing through an area called “Devil’s staircase” a very narrow with three hair pin bends and at the end of this the tea estate the scenery come more fascinating.

After from a tea plantation village you will be going dwon to a forest and reach to a waterfall called “Lanka Falls” lankafall is one of the most beautiful waterfall in the hidden forest not many people visit this fall so most of the time the all waterfall just for you to enjoy, and where you would be able to swim and have a cold bath in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall. You will be having you’re   picnic lunch Your lunch will consist of Sandwiches of two kinds pancake with coconut sugar, along with some seasonal fruits for dessert.

After swim, picnic and a nice rest we continue our trek further down where you will come to see Sri Lanka’s highest waterfall “Bambarakanda”. And we will go to the foot of the waterfall to enjoy the big water falling down Then you will be descending further with the view of Bambarakanda waterfall view. Here too if you wish you can have a swim at the base of the waterfall but some time, they will be lot of people, you will be enjoying every bit of the journey with the mind-blowing beauty of the surroundings.

Day 1 – Horton Plains & Devil’s Staircase

Begin your adventure at Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its misty grasslands, cloud forests, and stunning viewpoints like World’s End and Baker’s Falls. After a 3–4-hour trek through this breathtaking landscape, continue your journey along the Devil’s Staircase, one of Sri Lanka’s most scenic and adventurous mountain trails. Enjoy a picnic at the highest tea plantation in Sri Lanka, surrounded by panoramic views of the highlands. In the evening, arrive at Misty Mountain Lodge, set deep within a remote tea plantation, and unwind with a warm home-cooked Sri Lankan rice and curry dinner.

Day 2 – Forest Walk to Haputale

After breakfast, begin a full-day forest trek through tea estates, mountain villages, and lush forests. Meet local families and tea pluckers, and even try your hand at picking tea. The route takes you through pine, eucalyptus, and rainforest sections, offering some of the best views of Sri Lanka’s hill country. You’ll also walk along a railway track, passing through a tunnel and an old station—a truly authentic experience. Enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views before completing the 5–6-hour trek in Haputale.

Day 2 – Waterfall Trek to Bambarakanda Falls

After breakfast, begin a beautiful waterfall trek through tea estates and village trails. Meet local families and schoolchildren, and experience tea picking with plantation workers. Hike through the dramatic Devil’s Staircase and descend to the hidden Lanka Falls, where you can swim and enjoy a picnic lunch. Continue to Bambarakanda Falls, Sri Lanka’s highest waterfall, before ending the trek surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.
